What We Do on Farms and Rural Properties

From sheds and underground supply to dairies, pumps and three-phase power, we look after the electrical side of rural properties across Winchelsea, the Surf Coast hinterland and Geelong.

Sheds, Workshops & Outbuildings

Power, lighting and outlets for machinery sheds, workshops and outbuildings, including sub-boards and the cabling back to the main switchboard.

Underground Supply & Trenching

New underground power to sheds, houses and outbuildings. We organise the trenching, conduit and cable, so you deal with one business from the switchboard to the far end.

Motor Controls & Starters

Repair, replacement and installation of motor starters and controls for farm equipment.

Dairies & Farm Production Areas

Electrical maintenance and fault finding where moisture, wash-down and dust are part of daily life.

Pump Electrical Faults

When a pump trips, won’t start or keeps blowing protection, we diagnose and repair the electrical side: the supply, cabling, isolation, motor starter and the motor’s electrical condition. Mechanical pump repairs are a job for your pump specialist, and we’ll tell you clearly if that’s where the fault lies.

Three-Phase Power to Sheds

We install three-phase power supplies to sheds and equipment. We assess what’s there now, do the electrical work, and explain what’s needed from the network distributor if the property’s supply has to be upgraded.

How a Rural Job Works

1. Call or send the details. Tell us what’s happening and send photos of the switchboard or equipment if you can.

2. We assess on site for anything beyond a simple repair: supply, cable runs, loads and the condition of what’s already there.

3. You get a clear, itemised price before work starts.

4. We do the work, test it and certify it. You receive a Certificate of Electrical Safety, as required in Victoria.

The farmhouse too. Switchboard upgrades, safety switches, lighting, power points and fault finding. One electrician for the house and the farm.

Questions We Get Asked

Answers for farms, sheds and rural properties.

Can you run power to a new shed?

Yes. We wire new sheds and workshops with lighting, outlets and a sub-board where needed, including the underground supply from the house or main switchboard. If the shed isn’t built yet, call us before the slab is poured so conduits can go in at the right places.

Can you run three-phase power to my shed?

It depends on the supply the property has now. If three-phase is already available at the main switchboard, we can usually run a three-phase sub-main to the shed, sized for the distance and load. If the property only has single-phase supply, the supply has to be upgraded by the network distributor first. We explain the options and what’s involved, then do the electrical work.

My pump keeps tripping. Can you find out why?

Yes, on the electrical side. Common electrical causes include water in connections, damaged underground cable, a worn or incorrectly set starter, or an electrical fault in the motor windings. Repeated resetting can make things worse, so it’s worth testing. We test the supply, cable, controls and motor insulation and repair the electrical fault. If the problem is mechanical, we’ll tell you so you can call your pump specialist.

Do you work on dairies?

Yes. We carry out electrical maintenance and fault finding in dairies, and plan work around milking times wherever we can.
